I went to the opening of the No Absolute Truth In The Universe gallery show at the Bankok Arts and Culture Center this last weekend. The art is a mixing of current culture and Dharma. Here are some of the pieces I liked. First, titled To Cross The Samsara 2 is by Punsiri Siriwetchapun. It is a 120cm x 240cm inkjet print on film, which is then backlit. (Click To Enlarge)
As I mentioned in my last post, I had donated a Plywerk-Mounted print from the Botanica Obscura project to the Anchor Arts Gallery Auction. And it sold! Glad to help out the small galleries. I have a couple shows planned, so maybe I’ll apply there. The event was well attended and I met a  few cool people… especially Mic the bartender. Good guy (and husband of the Gallery President).
Anchor Arts Gallery Auction
History Of Anchor Arts:
Anchor was originally founded December 5th, 2008 by artist Jean Behnke, the project grew and developed a series of connections within the community. With the desire to return to her own studio, Anchor was passed on to a group of supportive, open-minded artists in Fall 2011. In association with Shunpike, Anchor Art Space is able to seek funding as a non-profit organization.
Anchor Art Space pursues quality exhibitions, events and community-based educational projects to a growing local and regional audience.
If you happen to be around Anacortes, WA, tonight, come to Anchor Art Space for their Second Annual Auction. I have one of my Botanica Obcura Plywerk prints there, with 100% going to the Anchor. It’s a great little space, check ’em out on Facebook.
If you are interested in one of my 16″ Botanica Obscura Plywerk Mounted prints and want to help the North Puget Cancer Center, you only have until December 1st! Read on and take a look at the video:
As I mentioned here, you can support the North Puget Cancer Center and their drive to fill their, well, let’s say “sterile” walls with a permanent collection of art. I’m selling both mounted and unmounted prints of the Botanica Obscura project.
As I mentioned in the post here, my Botanica Obscura print exhibit has moved to the North Puget Cancer Center At United General Hospital In Sedro Wooley, WA. I was pretty happy that two prints has sold before I had hung the exhibit, but while I was installing the mounting hardware in the hospital’s hallway, a hospital employee walked by and stopped to look. A third sale! I hadn’t even gotten the images up on the wall yet. But something that totally caught me off guard happened…
Here’s a short video of the Botanica Obscura gallery opening on 8-24-12. You will probably want to click on the gear icon in the lower right corner of the YouTube window and select one of the HD versions:
Wow, what a whirlwind! Over 100 people showed up for the gallery opening—it was very well received. The mix ran from local island dwellers to two of my friends that made the drive all the way from Portland, Oregon (Thanks for coming Kartik and Rupa!). A number of people had interesting questions about my photography and two locals asked if I could help them out with their work. Three hours went by in a flash. At the end of the night I sat at the bar with the Anderson’s Store staff as they had their after-closing drink. It was nice to chat with the folks that helped the event go so smoothly.
Another bonus was that I sold eight prints! I sold four of the large 16×16″ Plywerk Bamboo mounted prints you see on the wall in the above picture, and I also sold four smaller 8×10″ prints that were for sale off to the side.
I wish I had more pictures to share of the event, but even though I brought my camera, I didn’t have time to take any pictures until the event was over! A friend of mine did shoot some video for me, so I’ll post a little clip about the show.
Come check out some cool art, listen to some great music, and do some wine tasting! Art by your’s truly, music by Robert Sarazin Blake, and wine tasting out on the patio!
Here is the eMailer for the show in case you missed it:
