I generally don’t review suppliers unless I really feel it worthwhile, but in this case it is really warranted. I’ve been buying inkjet ink from atlex.com for at least a decade simply since they always had the best price. But recently I’ve purchased two printers from them, and had some serious issues with one of them. Of course this was a few weeks before I was due to hang two shows of my Botanica Obscura prints—can you say stressed? At that point I decided I’d really had enough with the inkjet manufacturer that I’d been using since 2001, and went with a new manufacturer—and the biggest printer I’ve ever owned, the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6300. I’ve never had a better printer. I won’t gush over it now (although I may in a future post).
What I do want to gush over is the customer service at Atlex.com (and their sister company ITsupplies.com). Sadly, the people who helped me are a bit bashful, and politely requested that I not use their names (or name the manufacturer of that other inkjet printer)… Oh well. Anyway, the three guys that helped me bent over backwards to make sure I got my printer and supplies in time to print for my two shows. They resolved problems with the following:
- The original printer
- A potential larger replacement printer made by the same manufacturer
- A shipping problem (getting the 6300 across the channel to the island I live on turned out to be a bit more of a challenge than it should have been!)
- Dealing with the original printer’s manufacturer
I just can’t say enough good things about the service from these companies. I don’t know if it is just me, but I’m getting really obsessive about good customer support. If the support isn’t there, I’ll go to a competitor, even if they are more expensive. Double bonus with these guys is they are the most competitive company on price AND have outstanding service.
Ok. Enough gushing. Going to buy an inkjet printer or supplies? Other office items? Spend your money with people that care about you after the sale is made.
